Innovation and responsiveness require managers and craft
workers who know how to learn. willingness to learn for
a lifetime is critical to the productivity and safety
of erection and rigging industry members. Ironworker apprentices
complete 1,600 hours of state-of-the-art technical training in
the classroom and 5,000 hours of hands-on field instruction to
learn superior mechanical skills. Journeyman Ironworkers enroll
in continuing education programs to master ever-evolving technologies
and techniques that meet the needs of construction buyers. More
than 50 percent of the industry's managers trained and worked
as Ironworkers, combining practical insights with management
know-how.
